Boogers

   Adolescence!!!  Today, as I was going over our US Constitution, we had an interruption.  Apparently one of our students was picking his nose with such enthusiasm that he gave himself a nose bleed.  I quickly dispatched him to the clinic for REPAIRS, uh sorry treatment, and the lesson continued.  As we were talking about the qualifications for being a senator, our little friend returned.  Everything was okay for a while, but then I spy him digging for gold yet again!!!  My repulsed self watched him pick and eat.  Gross.  Everyone knew what had happened before, as they had already told me what had caused the nose bleed, so I felt it would be all right to discreetly tell him in a nonchalant way to STOP and go wash his hands.  I mean eventually he is going to turn an assignment in. In my nineteen years of teaching I have seen that before and yet it still amazes me that a middle school male (yes, they have all been males) would do something like that in so public of a forum.  That is not going to help his reputation in the least.
